In 2012, Girl Scouts launched a national initiative ToGetHerThere campaign -- a bold step to rally communities, states and the nation around a single cause -- to remove barriers that inhibit girls from reaching their full potential, and, in a single generation, enable these girls, as women, to become full partners in leadership positions in every sector of our community.
When you donate to Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois (GSSI) you are investing in creating tomorrow’s leaders today. Girl Scout membership is open to girls in grades K-12; women and men over the age of 17 can join as adult members and volunteers. Girls join for fun, friendship and well known activities like cookies, camping and crafts.
However, today’s Girl Scouts are doing so much more....they are programming robots, learning about financial literacy, developing healthy living habits and participating in community services projects that make our communities stronger.
In partnership with committed adults, girls develop qualities that will serve them throughout their lives -- like strong values, social conscience and a conviction about their own self-worth.
Girl Scouting is the place for girls to have fun and try new experiences such as turning ordinary household items into science experiments, convincing the mayor to install a swing for special-needs children in a park or hitting a bullseye at the archery range.
Girl Scouts wants every girl to be so excited about the adventures she’ll have that she can hardly wait for it, because she knows she can do anything she sets her mind to. Those feelings start with parents/guardians who encourage their daughters and volunteers who are strong, passionate role models.
